About Eye Exams

Standard vision tests are quite well known to most people. Kids commonly are given these tests at school, and employees might be asked to take one for work purposes. Consequently, getting a thorough eye exam on a regular basis is particularly important. At The Eye Center of Southern Indiana, comprehensive eye wellness assessments include multiple important testing procedures that enable R. Daniel Grossman, M.D. and our team to determine your general eye health. It is very important to see an ophthalmologist if it has been over two years since your previous comprehensive evaluation or if you have detected any problems with your eyes or ability to see clearly.

What Does an Eye Exam Entail?

Receiving thorough eye exams on a routine schedule is important for everyone. Full eye assessments can also uncover other major yet controllable medical concerns, such as injury to the retina, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Most eye assessments at The Eye Center of Southern Indiana take around an hour. Your checkup will begin with a routine vision test to determine how sharp your sight is. If this test reveals that you should have prescription lenses, our team will likely follow it with refraction testing to figure out what your lens prescription needs to be. We may also test for glaucoma using an air puff test and macular degeneration using a special visual grid. Other tests may include examinations of your peripheral vision, color vision, and if necessary or requested, a close exam of the inner eye through dilation drops.

Ensure Your Eye Health

By and large, patients neglect their eyes until a vision problem becomes obvious. However, eye health extends further than only vision. We would love for you to set up comprehensive eye exams for your loved ones and yourself with Dr. Grossman and his team at our office in Bloomington, IN. The Eye Center of Southern Indiana uses the latest technologies and tests to look at your eyes to ensure that any issues will be detected and treated early.
